Green Bean Casserole
The 1955 original. Canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and crushed crackers baked until bubbly. It belongs on the table.
Total: 35 min
Ingredients
- •2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
- •1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- •1 cup crushed saltine crackers
- •1/4 tsp black pepper
- •1 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- 2
Drain the green beans and spread them in an even layer in an 8x8-inch baking dish or similar casserole.
- 3
Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the beans. It goes on straight from the can — no water, no milk. Spread it evenly.
- 4
Season with black pepper.
- 5
In a small bowl, toss the crushed crackers with the melted butter. Spread the cracker mixture over the top.
- 6
Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until the filling is bubbly around the edges and the cracker topping is golden.
- 7
Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
