
Hardtack Trail Mix Bars
Crushed pilot crackers, oats, peanut butter, and honey pressed into no-bake bars. Dense, satisfying, and built to last in a backpack or desk drawer.

Place the pilot crackers in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin, can, or the heel of your hand. You want mostly coarse crumbs with some small chunks remaining — not powder.

In a medium bowl, combine the crushed crackers and rolled oats.

Warm the peanut butter and honey together in a small saucepan over low heat (or microwave for 30 seconds) until they stir together easily.

Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over the dry ingredients. Add a pinch of salt. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

Press the mixture firmly into a parchment-lined loaf pan or small baking dish. Pack it down as tight as you can with the back of a spoon.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, then cut into bars.
