
Spam and Rice
Crispy fried Spam over steamed white rice with a splash of soy sauce. This is a staple across Hawaii and the Pacific, and it belongs in your rotation.

Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs mostly clear. Combine rice and 2 cups water in a pot. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to the lowest setting. Cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

While the rice cooks, slice the Spam into 8 even pieces, about a quarter-inch thick.

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Lay the Spam slices in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.

Serve the Spam over the rice and drizzle with soy sauce.
